Diana Carey is an Associate Professor and Discipline Coordinator of the Exercise & Human Performance Department (formerly Physical Education) at RCC, and is a Certified Athletic Trainer for RCC Athletics. In 2018 she was chosen Head Athletic Trainer of the Year in the Community College/National Junior College Athletic Association division by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association  Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine.

A 1997 RCC graduate, Carey started in the department in 2000 as an adjunct and as fitness coordinator, and since 2006 has taught physical education, fitness, sports nutrition and athletic training courses. During her tenure at RCC she has instituted separate academic tracks in athletic training, exercise science, and recreation and leisure as part of the AS degree program in Human Performance Studies.

A national and New York State Certified Athletic Trainer, Carey has implemented fitness and wellness programs for students, athletes, faculty and staff. She provides athletic training coverage for all RCC athletic events, as well as treatment and rehabilitation for the college's student-athletes. She also mentors student volunteer interns in athletic training, develops team sport strength and conditioning programs, and provides nutritional support and guidance for RCC students and athletes.

A committed contributor to the college and general community, Carey has made presentations and given scholarly lectures on such topics as nutrition, sports nutrition, weight management, injury prevention, sports concussions, and the importance of physical activity. She has also organized the Rockland Colleges Care cancer fundraising event, and chaired or held membership in a range of academic committees on campus.
