Welcome to the Reading and Writing Center

The Reading and Writing Center (RWC) helps students, faculty and staff at Rockland Community College to become stronger readers and writers. Anyone may come to the RWC for assistance with reading and writing assignments from any course. The staff of the RWC is also happy to assist with personal reading and writing tasks such as letters, transfer essays, resumes and creative writing.

Check out Reading and Writing Center page on myRCC to find helpful handouts on all aspects of the writing process, and links to other useful sites.

Reading and Writing Center Appointments for the Remainder of Fall 2020

This semester, 90% of courses will be held remotely because of concerns regarding COVID-19. Therefore, the RCC Reading and Writing Center (RWC) will continue to work with students remotely for the Fall 2020 semester. With that said, students wishing to utilize the RWC services should email, and we will conduct sessions virtually in one of three ways:

1) Students will have the option to email a Word Doc or Google doc to the tutor via their SUNY Rockland email address or they can email the RWC ( As always, please keep in mind that this will not be a proofreading service, but rather tutors will return papers with constructive comments in an effort to help individuals improve their writing.

2) Students can "live edit" with a tutor via Google Docs or Microsoft Word by sharing the document with the tutor directly during a scheduled session. That way, they can ask clarification questions and have a dialogue about the work at hand.

3) Students can meet virtually with a tutor via Google Meet if they have the ability to do so.

Anyone wishing to schedule a virtual session should make an appointment by emailing the RWC at

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the RWC at
