What is a Peer Mentoring?

One-on-one relationship in which a more seasoned student provides support, guidance and information to students in and out of the classroom.

What does the Peer Mentoring program provide?

Peer Mentors work with you to create an open and safe environment as you adjust to life at the college. They can provide tips on academic and social life on campus, as well as personal support. The Peer Mentoring Program offers one-on-one and group assistance with your academic and study skills needs.

"The peer mentoring program is a rewarding experience that allows you to help others be successful. It teaches you to be able to work with all different types of people. It is truly a wonderful opportunity and something great to have been a part of." – Kristin Aquliante, Peer Mentor

Why should you talk to a Peer Mentor?

Peers are like you! They are RCC students who know the campus, the professors, and the classes. They can relate to your experience and help guide you toward achieving your goals. Peers are always in the know about services and resources, and can assist you in times of need.

How do you obtain a Peer Mentor?

You would obtain a Peer Mentor if a professor in a class you are in has requested one, or if you are registered with the Academic Restoration Program.

“Peer mentoring has taught me that everybody has potential to do anything they want, but nothing will happen until they want to start.” – Jessi Chavez, Peer Mentor
