Rockland Shakespeare Company Presents It's 22nd Season

A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest – free and open to the public

DATE: July 2, 2019

Rockland County, NY – The Rockland Shakespeare Company (RSC) offers free performances of a pair of William Shakespeare’s plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest, at Rockland Community College’s Cultural Arts Theater. All are invited to enjoy the theatrical troupe’s 22nd season, which runs from Thursday, July 11 through Sunday, July 14, and again Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21. The company is dedicating this season to their colleague, friend and fellow company member, Keith Walters, whose sudden and tragic loss has impacted all in the company and those who knew him.

This is not the company's first foray into the magical realm of these two plays. This will be the second time producing The Tempest and the fourth journey through A Midsummer Night's Dream. “Although the core plot of The Tempest lies along a darker path than that of 'Midsummer', both plays have their share of light and playful elements. From the bumbling trio of Stephano, Trinculo and Caliban in The Tempest to the forever popular and even more bumbling set of Rude Mechanicals in A Midsummer Night's Dream, there is plenty of foolery to go around,” says Christopher Plummer, RSC’s co-founder and co-artistic director along with Patty Maloney-Titland. “We want people to escape into that dream-world with us, just for a little while.”

The performances will be staged in RCC’s Cultural Arts Theater, in the round, and seating is limited and “first come, first served.” Doors open at 6:30 pm and all performances begin at 7 pm.
