December 2016 Achievements


Cliff Ader, Assistant Professor, Criminal Justice, presented a lecture at the Rockland Police Academy on “Investigative Police Response.”

Rachel Golland, Assistant Professor, English, presented a workshop on "Affirming the Digital and Media Literacy Practices of Special Needs Students: Advocating for Learning Differences in General Education English Classrooms" at the 2016 National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE) Annual Convention, November 17-20 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Shamika Mitchell, Assistant Professor, English, traveled with a SUNY faculty delegation to Cairo, Egypt to participate in a COIL seminar at American University Cairo. In the spring semester, she will be linking ENG 241, African American Literature II, with a Cultural Studies course titled “Filming Difference – Perceptions of Nations, Race, Borders and Identity.”


John Schlesinger, Associate Professor, Art, opened a collaborative art project as half of the “Dear Volunteers” duo on November 19 at Unsmoke Art Space in the Pittsburgh suburb of Braddock, PA.


The West Coast premiere of Performing Arts/English adjunct Angelo Parra's play, The Devil's Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith, will be staged at the Rubicon Theatre in Ventura, Calif., February 22 to March 12.
